Boxed Pizza

My shopping trip to Aldi today cost me $59. They offer a wide variety of goods. I usually don't buy pizza, but for a quick meal that cost $3.59 you really can't go wrong. Add a salad and dinner is served. My own homemade pizza is much better. I haven't made it in quite sometime. Boxed pizza, quick meal, cheap meal.

what brand was it, some are better than others [ErrollLeVant]

I usually dress up even the boxed pizza with chopped veggies and extra cheese at the very least. I agree that homemade is better, but this is not too bad, and you can customize it. [GardenGerty]
Home made isn't always better. I have made homemade items plenty of times, and with a few exceptions, preferred to eat out. [smilekeith]

I shop there and Sav-A-Lot too. They do have pretty cheaper prices than Krogers or Farmer Jack.I can get a lot of food for under one hundred dollars [coco526]

It's been a long time since I've been to Aldis, but it sounds like you did well there! *laugh* I love pizza and my family buys it boxed fairly often. I think that we have found it for cheaper than $3.59, but you are probably talking about larger sized pizzas than we usually buy. It's certainly far cheaper than going out to eat at a pizza place or having one delivered, though! By far! *laugh* I'm sure that your homemade pizza is lovely! I can't remember if I've ever had a homemade pizza. Certainly not in my own home. Maybe at a friend's. ^_^ I know that a friend and I used to make pizza sandwiches of a sort, by putting cheese and sauce onto slices of bread. Those were quite good! ^_^ I guess that that was a sort of homemade pizza, now that I think about it, although not in the traditional sense! ^_^ [shywolf]
I used to shop at Aldis all of the time. I need to start again. Usually you can get so much for such a reasonable price. I love getting produce there. Of course when I went for the first time in months, it was January second and I guess everyone was filling their New Years resolutions because all of the produce was gone! All that was left was onions! I've never seen anything like it! Shopping at Aldis is great because I can avoid all of the extra spending I do shopping at Walmart! [angelmommy]

You are right. Looking for cheap, that's definetly cheap. This week some of the grocery stores have bagged salad 2 for 4.00 so I'll be getting some of those tonight. It's tough to be on a budget, but it's amazing what you can come up with to eat. [sunrisekn]
I paid $1.79 for Italian blend at Aldi. Bought 3 tomatoes for $1.69. [ElusiveButterfly]

We have an Aldi's here in Philly that I use frequently. However, I haven't tried the boxed pizza yet. I'll have to try that next time I go there. Of course, like GardenGerty, I like to doctor 'em up a bit, but it's all good. Thanks for the tip. I love the great advice you share with us! [DoubleB66]

We have been on a tight budget lately so we have tried several of the boxed pizzas,so much cheaper then eating or ordering out. Giant Eagle has a good one,it is usually on sale for under $4. Aldis is not really close to us,but they are putting in a super aldi just down the road. [suscan]

We also go to Aldi's although i find they dont have alot of things that i need so it means having to go shopping at 2 different places but they are very cheap! and with the box pizzas i always had extra on top of them to make them nicer because i do find sometimes they dont have much topping on them! [baysmummy]

Aldi's is one of my favorite stores. Sign up for their newsletter and see all the bargains before they come out in the paper. I don't like their pre-made pizza crust. It was kind of cardboardy, but their Grandessa brand everything is great. I love to shop their around the holidays - BUTTER - $1.29 a pound! Oh, dear, I'm getting all excited thinking about it. I have a physical therapy appointment on Tuesday and it is in the same plaza. I had better not forget to put my bags in the car and my "cart quarter" is ALWAYS in the tray of my car!~Donna [kitchenwitchoftupper]
You not only need to keep some bags in your trunk, a quarter where you can easily reach it, but isn't it grand when someone is getting ready to put their cart back and you can just give them the quarter and not have to struggle with that thing - especially in the cold weather? ~Donna [kitchenwitchoftupper]

hmm i have boxed pizza once a week.. wen i am not in the mood to cook [cyberwizcash]

I don't mind a cheap meal once in a while. There's nothing wrong with a box pizza once in a while. There are good ones, then there are ones that really don't taste good. So if you get a box pizza, get a good quality one. [onlyme123]
This one was actually not bad. I have had name brand pizzas that were too salty, too mushy, and the overall taste was not to my liking. [ElusiveButterfly]

Yeah....I know what you mean. We sometimes make homemade pizza too...but haven't in a while. We buy some thick, long Chinese style bread and just load toppings on and bake it..it is great. However..sometimes you just want something fast and simple. It is amazing that you never go to the store for just a couple of things....lol. [icequeen]

Wow, it's been a long time since I went to Aldi. I used to go there at least every two weeks or so. I've had the boxed pizza once. It wasn't bad, but not great, either. I guess I got what I paid for. I've never made homemade pizza (never wanted to tackle what I percieve as a huge task) so this was as close to homemade as I've gotten. I did get the plain cheese and dress it up with pepperoni, sliced mushrooms, and lots of extra cheese, so it had a little personal touch to it. [reindeerpaws]
When you have a large family or are having a lot of people over, it is very economical. [ElusiveButterfly]

I love Aldi and shop there often. I have found that their house brands are as good as, or better than any other supermarket brands. I have had one of their pizzas before and thought it was great. They have such great deals on so many items, really helps to stretch the budget. [Geminigirl]

I love Aldis but my husband won't go there with me anymore, he says they are rude there. I don't care, I just want to save a buck lol. And their pizzas are really good and so are a lot of their other storebrands. [Fairywings]

ya may be u r right//////////////................ [sagarbx]

I am extremely jealous of folks who have an Aldi near them. I hear friends online all the time talking about the great deals they get there. I'm a single parent and I've learned that it really does help stretch the main entree to add a salad or a quick side of veggies to every meal. I try to stock up on frozen pizzas when they're on sale to have for emergency dinners, even at regular price it's cheaper than calling for Pizza Hut. [cajundharma]
I call them quicky dinners. Even if we have taken something out for dinner ahead of time, that doesn't mean that we will feel like taking the time to prepare it. We do not have pizza often, but it is nice to have one on standby in the freezer, just in case. [ElusiveButterfly]

i like pizza verry much. enjoy your pizza [alvinia1]

I like to make my own too. But when in a rush, boxed pizza will work for me too, but only from one place. It's an old fashion pizza place where they still throw the dough up in the air. Yummmmmy. I am not fond of the pre made crusts, or fast food pizzas. Are you? [margieanneart]
I have had pizzas that are made in shops and they really aren't worth spending the extra money. When you make them at home you choose what and how much to put on your pizza. Nummers. [ElusiveButterfly]

Doesn't sound bad. We are trying to eat healthier this year though. How are their meats such as roasts and all? [Metallion]

Boxed pizza is quick and is cheap. Nothing beat a homemade pizza made with our favorite tomatoe sauce and tasty toppings. Next time make your homemade pizza and you will probably enjoy it way more! [EvrWonder]

u guess its faster.. and can taste better too if you add more stuff to it [chiyosan]

Aldi do sometimes have some very good things in, they tend to stock local vegetables and milk as well rather than produce that has travelled long distances, and whilst some of their lines are horrible a few are very good indeed. I buy my olive oil there and have had good deals in their seasonal produce as well. [nancygibson]

Actually here in Europe the boxed pizza is not that bad... Compared to other pizzas, I mean... The pizza here has nothing to do with the New York pizza. That is what I miss the most. The closest thing to a good pizza is the Pizza Hut that is in Berlin. They have a great pizza and when I am craving a very good pìzza I go there. Otherwise, I dress up a little the boxed pizza. It is cheap, but with some extra cheese tastes pretty good. [berlinlife]

oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh [delhirockz]

I like veg pizza with lot of chease ummiiiiii [rakeshwad]

I think the hotel ur entered was cheap.. thats why they didnt serve u a good pizza... Its better you know the rate of the hotel like five star hotel or something like that before entering the hotel .. Better consult it with ur frndz... [adnanmd2]

I must say, you're making me hungry. $3.59 is a very good deal. I'm assuming it's a small one though. If it's a large one then that's an even BETTER deal. I want pizza so bad now. I think I'm going to bug my husband for it now haha. [steffylikewoah]

When I shop I go to Aldies frist. it come just befor Wal-mart. When I do Aldies I can spend $10.00 and geet 3 times as many bags of groceries as I can at the grocery store or Wal-mart. [deebomb]
I make 2 lists, one for Aldi and one for Hannaford or Price Chopper. [ElusiveButterfly]

depends on the boxed pizza , what brand it was , some brands are not good enough , and brands like pizza hut and dominoes are way to go , so it the boxed isnt always bad , but yeah in many cases it can be that your homemade pizza is much better than the boxed pizza [simran1430]

What sad puppies are people that buy cheap processed foods and then wonder why their girth is wider than their height. Making your own is far better and then you know that what you put in to your food is always better. Cheap processed food tastes good because of the high amount of fat, it is the only way we can be conned in to buying their products. My family has always eaten fresh made at home and so far my health has not suffered and at my age of fifty eight how many men who have abused their bodies for most of their lives can say that. [favell]
I agree with you, there are many exceptions to the rule and it is just as well that we are not all identical. [favell]

all pizzas rnt gud.some r branded still taste waste. [shiva123srs]

not very much i think it is not cheap. [usama46]

I love box pizza's for my kids when I dont have time to cook. Box pizza and teenagers mix very well...I buy at least 15 of them a week to go in the freezer.. Doesnt last long but it works well and its very inexpensive... They love them Tostinos I tell ya !! [jeanniekerns]

I buy the frozen pizzas occaionsally for the kiddos too as a cheap meal. [kidsrock]

Yes Aldi is a great shop we go there on a regular basis you can save a lot of money there, you can save a lot of money by going to shops like Aldi, so thank you to another one that shops at Aldi [kathy77]

Yeah, it sure is. We buy it all the time. [Lydia1901]

Here in Germany I also go to Aldi and I have also tried this pizza. Naturally home made are better but it is also not bad at all and then it saves a lot of time too. Mostly I cook myself but sometimes in a hurry such readymade foods are quite helpful and good enough. [imranwajid]

We shop at Aldi's sometimes too. You can get stuff really cheap there. We went there the other day and spent 50 something dollars and got a lot of groceries. Then I had to go to walmart to get baby food and stuff and spent $89 and it didn't look like near as much items as I had gotten at Aldi. We haven't tried their boxed pizza's yet though so we'll have to get some next time we go. [sweetgirl_k1]

I agree, just avoid the very cheepest options and go mid range or upper for a real bargain meal. Lovely stuff!!! :) [nuffsed]

I will buy boxed deep dish pizza, and add some of my own fresh toppings to make it even better, and then walla, we have dinner. And we usually make cheese sticks, or bread sticks on the side to go with it as well. The two together and a movie make a great combo for family night!!!! [stailgate]

It sounds good to me but my picky husband would turn his nose up. If I dont make it forget he wont eat. [TerryZ]

I love shopping at Aldi's...There prices are so great..and the food quality is great as well....and there pizza is good as well...I always buy the four cheese, garlic and tomato pizza there.... [smiley20903]

ooh, we love Aldi also. They have the best prices on certain items and have some items that other stores don't have. We love to eat boxed pizza's as well. Especially, CJ. He loves pepperoni. [cjsmom]

I have gotten the box pizzas. I don't like the meat that come with them. It reminds me of cat food. However the price is right especially if they are on sale. I always dr. them up and sometimes take most of the meat out and feed that to my cat. I buy frozen pizzas from the pizza place here in town. They are only $4.00 I usually ask for extra pepperoni, why give me a good size bag for an extra .50. But nothing is like home made because it has love in it. [suitsme]
