I eat my pizza with a fork. I guess I always have. I hate getting my hands dirty, so I have to have a fork. Pizza can be so messy and I don't see any reason to get it all over me.

Nope, I just pick it up and shove it in. The only time I use a fork to eat pizza is when I am at a nicer restaurant or if the pizza is extremely hot I will cut a couple pieces and then shove the rest after it cools off, I have never gotten really messy eating pizza though- well not as an adult anyways. I like to just pick it up and hold it over the plate as I like the thin crusts which are hard to cut and trying makes more mess than if I just picked it up in the first place. [nancyrowina]

Pizza is a finger food around here, though 'shoving it in' is forbidden. One can eat finger food and remain civilized, after all. I've never had a problem with pizza being messy, except when the three year old eats it. Then it's all over his face..and the wall and the table and..well, you get the picture. [sapphiresage]
There have been times when I've eaten it with a knife and fork, but usually only in restaurants where I try to use my best table manners. However, pizza is the ultimate finger food and the one food where it is perfectly good etiquette to pick it up and eat it with your hands. [wachit14]

I do it both ways. It just depends on my mood or in the way that it is served. In Italian restaurants, I eat with a fork and knife. There are those mall restaurant that you just order a slice of pizza and eat it with your hands. I like pizzas and I don't mind the way I'm eating it. [RogerTheRabbit]

I don't know how many will agree, but I don't consider my fingertips "all over me". If getting your fingers greasy is too much for you, continue with the knife and fork. It's much more civilized so I am told. In most places, pizza is a finger-food, but if the crust is soggy, or it's homemade pizza I use a fork, too. I get alot of crap, also. I do it for simplicity not cleanliness. It's hard to pick up a slice when it's made of biscuits. [jessigirl116]
My husband and I eat pizza the traditional way...by picking it up with our hands. We just had pizza last night and we ate it that way. So what if our hands get dirty. We jut wipe them clean with a napkin or wash them afterwards, which is not a big deal to us. :) [sacmom]

it really depends on the pizza. if i am eating a chicago style pizza which is my favorite then i eat that with a fork because it is so thick and full of cheese. but if i am eating like a pizza hut pizza then i use my hands. sometimes it's a little fun to get all sloppy like a kid. [4MYGIRLS]

You are right, pizza is messy, but still we have always eaten with our hands. I recall eating pizza with a fork though on a couple occasions, but mainly because the crust was too doughy or soggy and was falling apart. i don't like to eat pizza using a fork. I just can't taste the pizza taste if i did not touch the pizza using my hand while eating them. So what i do is just pick them using my hand and get them straight into my mouth. Now only i can taste the heavenly of pizza. I also do this whenever i eat pizza at the restaurant. [qouniq]

I usually eat my pizza with my hands. I might use a fork if it is falling apart; at least until I get things under control, then return to eating with my hands. If things get a bit messy, that is ok. pizza is considered as finger food also that we can just hold or pick it and put into our mouth as long as it is just the regula size . .. but those usual huge pizza we have in town are usually jumbo in size that's why more convenient just to use fork with it and avoid mess too. [angel_marie5]
