Do You Tip The Person That Delivers Your Pizza

Well I usually always go pick ours up since we always need something from town. But in the case I do get it delivered I always tip. I delivered for about six months and tips are the only thing that help. Just remember when someone brings you your pizza that gas is a national average of $3.26 a gallon and that they are making $5.15 an hour. They need your tips!!! And yes most places do charge $1.00 for delivery. The one I worked at charged $1.25 and I only got $1.00 of that. So if you have 20 deliveries and you get $20.00 but had to drive say 140 or so miles that doesn't help any. So, do you tip the person that delivers your pizza?

Yes, I tipped when I had a pizza delivered. Don't have that option here in the Dom Rep but I would do it anyway. [wickedangel]

Anytime I have pizza delivered, I always tip the driver. Even though I know there is already a fee added for the delivery, I know that the drivers rely also on tips. I usually tip at least $3 to the driver, if I use my debit card, I'll usually round up the tip to a higher dollar amount up to $5, but typically I tip $3 to the delivery driver. [omupas]

I do. I like to try and give decent tips too - much to the chagrin of my husband. He had a pizza delivery job once and keeps telling me that they include a wage in the pizza price even if it says "Free Delivery". Well, that job was many years ago. I still say that even if there is a wage included in the pizza price it's a good idea to tip - so I do. happy [tinkerick]

I use to be a waitress and in jobs like a waitress or pizza delivery you need the tips to just make up the difference in what you get paid.So most of the time if I do get pizza I will tip.I tip at any restraunt and if a person bringes your food to your home there is no difference. So yes for the most part I tip. Yes, I tip the pizza delivery person, and also any other deliverer of food I order. Their job is harder than waiting on table and they have to go out in all sorts of weather, so I appreciate and tip them. Brightest Blessings. [Darkwing]

Waiting tables used to be one of my 'default' jobs. I once got a job at a quaint little French restaurant in DC. The owner himself interviewed me for the job. When I arrived this huge black Rolls Royce was double-parked right in the middle of M street in Georgetown. I guess that's what made the interview go so fast, he was anxious to get the hell outta there. He looked me up and down, asked a couple of casual questions and hired me on the spot. As it turns out it actually used to be a French-type bordello that catered to the political 'traffic', a lot of foreign diplomats and the like. It was Mafia connected. While I worked there every now and then one of the mob guys would come into the place and sit at a table with the French guy who was the owner and they would drink for hours while they took care of their business. I don't remember if they tipped well or not. I do know that they poured cheap vodka in the premium vodka bottles and sold it at exorbitant prices, and watered down the cheap vodka that they mixed their standard drinks with. Anyway, yeah, I tip. I usually am a pretty extravagant tipper, although I have had to 'stiff' servers or drivers on occasion due to a shortage of funds. I hate that. [zigzagbuddha]

I rarely have a pizza delivered because there is only one pizza place that offers delivery in my area. When I do order a pizza from them and have it delivered I tip the delivery guy though. It is usually a high school kid and they don't normally have a ton of money. Besides that, they have to put up with my kids attacking them as soon as they knock on the door. lol [loved1]

I always tip the person who delivers my food. No less than $2, and no more than $4. It depends on the total of the order, and often I'm just rounding up a near dollar (so the tip might end up being something like $2.76). Most places I order from add a delivery charge, but I never think to ask if the drivers actually get any portion of that. [CanadaGal]

I always tip the delivery person. I give at least 20% or more. Depends on the service. I have to admit though, I usually get pickup, it comes faster, and I always get it hot...LOL [bonbon664]

Yes I always tip the pizza delivery guy. Partly because we tend to order pizza fairly frequently (usually once a week) and as it's the same guy who does the deliveries we feel like we know him. And secondly because our pizza shop is only a 20 minute walk away and we feel guilty and quite lazy for calling him out to make such a small delivery (usually just 1 pizza and chips). So we generally tip him about £2.00 for his trouble - hopefully he looks forwward to delivering to us! [butterflygirl]

You have to be careful when you tip the driver. Sometimes they work the tip into the actual bill, so if you tip them, it is like tipping them twice. They usually don't tell you that the tip is worked into the total cost, so don't be afraid to ask if the total also includes the tip. [movieman]

I always tip the person delivering my pizza. I used to work for a pizza place as well, I didn't deliver the pizzas, but a friend of mine did, so I got to hear all the stuff he had to go through and how people didn't tip and what not. So now, whenever I get pizza that has to be delivered, and my bill is say $20 or more, I always give $5. [jenni7202]

We tip $2-$3 a trip in my household. I used to work for a pizza shop. I personally know the troubles that a delivery person goes through. Not just with the customer but with the workers in the pizza shop, also. With the gasoline prices now, we would probably tip $5 or so. [sherrir101]

I'll tip the driver if my order is right and if it was delivered when they said it would be delivered. I don't think I should have to reward bad service. [deannatroupe]

Umm, in fact I have never ordered pizza delivery from a long distance before. In fact, I never ordered something from a long distance but did it for some other meal instead, the distance was a short one and could be brought without any vehicles and probably he did that. Well, I am usually not into tipping because I am personally a student and I am the one who needs tips :D So, I just pay for the food I ordered, (if I have the money :D ) If not, we just eat something else [the_ruler]

Well in my country , we don't have the pratice tips the pizza delivery or mcdonald deliverly yea even though we knew they earn not much yea . [Sir_bobby88]

Yes I do. They don't deliver where I live now (too far out in the country) but when I lived near town I would always tip them. It pays to do that too. I called one night not realizing it was almost time for them to close. When I told them where I lived they said my name and "oh, okay, we'll bring it out to you". I tipped real well that night. It was after a night of partying (when I was young and did that sort of thing) and I was really hungry. [lucy02]

Yes...I always tip. I think it is unfair that certain employers do not have to pay minimum wage at least and therefore it is up to the customers who are already paying for the service to tip. A tip should be a gratituty over and above the paycheck. Customers should not feel obligated to pay the employees of any business. Sometimes these employees put in a full shift and simply because business is slow get almost no pay. Unless they are extremely rude....I always tip them. still if a person can't afford to pay his help, he should not be in business. My boss has to pay me no matter how slow his business is. [sid556]

i always tip anybody that waits on me in a service job.i've worked plenty of them, and i remember how i felt went they left nothing. ..plus,my brother used to deliver pizza and i'd never hear the end of it if i didn't LOL [scarlet_woman]

economies apart, I always tip people doing home-delivery of whatever I order. It can be food, it can be my groceries, it can be the man bringing in the gas cylinders for the kitchen. I always feel that I have order groceries worth quite an amount and the person brining it knows that its his job, even then I can definitely give him a tip and show my appreciation of his efforts. Same for food specially. I know these delivery-boys don't make much and if I have order expensive sumptuous food and someone is bringing it for me, I can definitely give the person a tip which will be a minor fraction of my bill. [sudiptacallingu]

i always tip them for the simple fact that its a convience for me and an inconvience for them yeah its their job but who wants to deal with the stupid drivers out there and they come out in all types of weather its just courtsey [msfreeze]

no. because they already have delviery charges already so we don't give tip for the delivery man... :( i feel awful we just had a delivery from yellow cab today for our meeting we gave the exact amount. [chiyosan]

I always tip the guy who delivers the pizza. It increases my appetite. [balasri]

The strange thing is, we can not tip the pizza delivers because there arn't pizza enterprises that deliver the pizza to our house. I think it is just a thing you only see in America, pizza deliverers. But i think i would tip them because you have to pay for the gasoline as well if you would get them at the place they sell the pizza. [MisterN]

I always try to tip the pizza delivery guys, but I also think that they should not ask for it. Many places, and I am not saying just pizza places, will ask for one. [SomeCowgirl]

I do tip and tip well at that 99% of the time but no I do not tip all the time. When the food is over an hour late or cold not even lukewarm when it should be hot the delivery person gets nothing. Yes, I do know that most of the time it is not actually their fault. When I do not tip I will call the place and tell them that they will have one disappointed delivery person because of their mistake and if it happens again I will be spreading the word not to order food from their place. [razcal2267]

Surely I do. If waitresses get tips by delivering food from kitchens to tables, pizza delivery guys should receive tips so. The value they provide is time and gas saving for us. [alexwander]

i normally always tipped them at least $3 depending on how much i ordered. plus i lived upstairs so a couple times they had to make a couple trips. now where we live they don't deliver. [aretha]

I do,,I really appreciate the job they do,,n here in India, we get free home delivery,,so I prefer giving a tip to the pizza guy, rather than paying for delivery.... [Lovett]

Sadly theres no pizza delivery where i live. If i'm in the city and order pizza at a friends house or at a hotel I always make sure to tip at least 2 dollars. [saundyl]

Yes, it's part of tipping etiquette. I wonder if people don't pass that knowledge down to their kids anymore or something. You're always supposed to tip the delivery person. Truthfully, I enjoy giving a pizza kid a big tip. I like to light up their face with a big smile! [Anhedonia]

Yes, my husband used to deliver pizzas so I know what it's like. He always said it seemed like the rich people in the nice neighborhoods didn't tip at all, and when he'd go into the poorer neighborhoods, they always tipped! [mememama]

I always base my tips on how polite and courteous the person I am supposed to be tipping is. I always tip my hair dresser about ten to fifteen dollars (it usually costs about one hundrad dollars to dye my hair so I feel she deserves it for spending three hours on my head). I tip my waiters/waitresses according to how they serve me. I don't always do the fifteen percent rule, if the waiter or waitress is very good at their job I will tip the more than a waiter who just slaps the food down and leaves. I always tip delivery drivers about two or three dollars (my meals that I order are usually about ten dollars so I feel this is a decent tip considering). Taxi drivers... they're another story. I as a general rule, am utterly terrified to get into a cab alone. So if I feel comfortable in the cab they get a bigger tip than cabbies that make me afraid for my life (yes there have been a few of them). [vulgarlittleprincess]
