My sister makes this yummy dessert called fruit pizza....she makes it for special occasions and it's so light and good for you (if you can call dessert something good for you) LOL
Here is the recipe!
1 (18 ounce) package refrigerated sugar cookie dough
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened
1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
2 cups sliced fresh strawberries
1/2 cup white sugar
1 pinch salt
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/2 cup orange juice
2 tablespoons lemon juice
1/4 cup water
1/2 teaspoon orange zest

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Slice cookie dough and arrange on greased pizza pan, overlapping edges. Press dough flat into pan. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes. Allow to cool.
In a large bowl, soften cream cheese, then fold in the whipped topping. Spread over cooled crust. You can chill for a while at this point, or continue by arranging the fruit.
Begin with strawberries, sliced in half. Arrange in a circle around the outside edge. Continue with fruit of your choice, working towards the middle. If bananas are used, dip them in lemon juice so they don't darken. Then make a sauce to spoon over fruit.
In a saucepan, combine sugar, salt, corn starch, orange juice, lemon juice and water. Cook and stir over medium heat. Bring to a boil, and cook for 1 or 2 minutes, until thickened. Remove from heat, and add grated orange rind. Allow to cool, but not set up. Spoon over fruit. Chill for two hours, then cut into wedges and serve.

i made fruit pizza for my superbowl party last year. it was really good. Everybody commented favorably on it. It is a yummy and nutritious dessert. I dont think that my recipie had orange juice in it, otherwise it is the same. I fist had this several years ago at a gettogether and was determined to find a recipie for it. [snowy22315]

Hey jillhill. This fruit pizza recipe looks really good. I also make Fruit Pizza. But mine does not have the whipped topping which I think would be a great addition. I usually put sliced peaches, bananas, strawberries, and kiwis on mine. I've also made them just with strawberries on them and they are great! Thanks for reminding me about fruit pizza, jillhill. It's a beautiful summer dessert that's quite delicious. I'm going to print out this recipe. Take Care. [PearlGrace]
I just love it and my sister makes it sooooo good! THanks for posting and sharing your ingredience. [jillhill]
This is a very good recipe. I have made fruit pizza a few times before and loved it. I haven't had it in a while, but this recipe sure makes me what to have again very soon....and I think I will. Thanks [mommy7]
Yes...I love it too and don't even like fruit! LOL [jillhill]
Sounds delicious. I haven't done any sort of dessert pizza before; I'll have to try this. [wilsongoddard]
hello jillhill first of all let me ask you how that you got away with posting a recipe around here at Mylot like you have done to this discussion. i didn't think that we were allowed to post recipes around here at Mylot. so having said that, i have never tried a fruit pizza like that before, but i know that i would like it, as for the rest of my family members liking the fruit pizza, that is an entirely different story. this recipe sounds like something delicious to take to a get together of some kind or a party. and btw, could a person use any kind of fruit as they wanted to on top of the fruit pizza? like use whatever kind of fruit that would be in season? or not? lol i have had dessert pizza's at Pizza Hut before, like the apple or the cherry pizza and i love those! i will have to make one of these fruit pizzas for my next get together, which will be in September on Labor Day. thanks for sharing the recipe with us all around here at Mylot. have a beautiful day today! [RLFinNash]
well i didn't flag you on this discussion! i do not see why that we cannot post recipes like that around here at Mylot! i go around the fact that we are not allowed to post recipes here at Mylot, so i just talk about them instead. lol you know? have a beautiful evening. [RLFinNash]
Fruit Pizza!! never heard of it, this one sure is one unique dessert. I am really not so fond of eating my fruits but on the other side I love Pizza, this may turn out to be a good way of eating my fruits the yummy way instead of the healthy way ! Thanks for sharing the recipe. [serenidity]
You are welcome. [jillhill]
Well, the fruit part is healthy anyway. :-) I had this years ago it was very tasty. [brimia]
It is very tasty! [jillhill]
good day.. that is a promising recipe. thank you very much for sharing it and I would try making one and I think even without seeing the finish product that it would be delicious and perfect for health. [blackmantra_x]
It is and good for you too! [jillhill]
Hello, thanks for the recipe.. I think it is really delicious.. We always bought pizza outside of my apartment. [swennerholm]
Now you can make it! [jillhill]
Wow! Wow wow wow! I cannot tell you how I'm craving this right now! That looks so delicious, and a great way to eat more fruit too! Thank you for sharing this recipe with us. I've copied and pasted it into my Microsoft Word file, and have saved it. This is something I will definitely be trying out this coming weekend. My partner isn't a huge fan of fruit, so I guess there is more for me to eat! lol I may just give you an update once I've tried it. Thanks again! [angelwhispers30]
