Yes folks, there is such a food here in the UK, mainly in Scotland but I am sure it can be bought elsewhere. I mean, I've heard of battered fish (obviously), battered potato cakes (patties) and battered Mars bars but BATTERED PIZZA?shocked
I thought my husband was winding me up earlier when he was telling me about them...but it's true!
Have you ever eaten such a delicacy?rofl

I've never even heard of battered pizza before today. It sounds good though, and I'd give it a try. Just think of all the calories! [hofferp]
I am in the UK but have never came across battered pizza. I have to say that it is not something that I would go for just the idea of it puts me off eating it. Think I will stick to my vegetarian pizza. [littleone3]
Yes I would count that as vegetarian happy [littleone3]
I really don't like battered pizza it is horrible. I only like battered fish or battered sausages. I usually only get chips from the chipshop and only seldomly get fish or anything else. [goldiegold]
I've noticed the further north you go the more things get battered! It's true! I once saw pies displayed in a chippy and all of them were battered. I had no idea what was in the pies so never bought one!shocked [Janey1966]
That would be like putting some cornmeal on a pizza and sticking it in oil, kind of defeats the purpose. I don't think it'd taste good and it wouldn't be healthy. Not that pizza is. No I've never heard of it but it does sound interesting. Have you ever tasted any now that you know or are you planning too? [SomeCowgirl]
different pizza names i heard it but this in reality i never heard it before in reality!!may be it cna be good too..but as regards name it did not ispire me too mcuh to take a battered pizza....did not sound as really good taste!! [tonyllenium]
"Battered Pizza" doesn't sound appetizing does it although they can be called Pizza Crunch from what I can gather, which doesn't sound much better does it lol!lol [Janey1966]
Hi Janey, That sound rather gross to me, give battered fish and chips anyday, gosh" that is making eel hungry. Tamara [tamarafireheart]
We had battered fish and chips earlier, our Friday evening treat. They were yummy! We have such willpower as the shop is at the corner of our street. Sometimes the smell is amazing. Glad they don't do the pizza but they are known to batter virtually everything else lol.shocked [Janey1966]
Haven't heard of it before this. Have heard of stuffed crust pizza, though. [BarBaraPrz]
Yes, I think I saw a Pizza Hut advert for those. It's funny how shop-bought, frozen pizza just isn't the same as fresh pizza bought in restaurants and the like. Best one I ever had was in Las Vegas! Not surprisingly, it was enormous so I had to donate some to hubby. Our pizzas are nowhere near as big in the UK but the people are becoming bigger as they don't cook as much and buy everything from take-away kebabs to fish and chips. In one respect it is great that the UK has such a diverse population as it's reflected in the food outlets...although I'm not a great lover of what I class as "foreign" food. Greek food is about the best I would say but kebabs over in Greece (in my case Corfu on holiday) are better than the ones over here. Don't know why that is; it's just a fact!happy [Janey1966]
Hi Janey! I feel that it's just wrong to batter pizza--after all, they aren't forcing anyone to eat them, so why beat them up?! rofl [nyhollyjean]
Haha! Very good, I like it! [Janey1966]
Seriously? Ive never heard of half these foods. I think the Mars bar would taste weird though. Ive never tried them but the battered pizza does sound good but I wouldnt eat it all the time. I know some people who batter and fry their foods. I guess its the new fab in society and will sell like no tomorrow. But they never think of peoples health at all. I wonder if they will come up with battered veggies or fruit?. [Ricki911]
I'm sure they already have my friend! I can cope with fish covered in batter but even that makes me feel sick sometimes if I eat it too fast!blush [Janey1966]
The state and county fairs here have managed to batter and deep fry pretty much every food on earth. My delicate little stomach really doesn't like the thought... [dawnald]
There's a place that makes something called a Ponzaratta. It's basically like a deep fred hot pocket pizza but BETTER! I haven't had one in years as they are pricey for my budget when you get the deluxe & have 5 people to feed. But this is the place we go to when we have the extra cash. It's a small place but it's very FAMOUS for their Ponzaratta's! http://www.jimmysgrottopizza.com/ [3SnuggleBunnies]
Wow, they look amazing! Pity it's in America.sad [Janey1966]
hi janey oh no never did bug it sounds like a diabetics worst nightmare, I love pizza and all sorts of topping s but to ruin a good pizza by addding grease and caloris with a batter, oh thats horrid, no thanks I will take mine unbattered, I do not e ven like fish battered., yuck so know I would not like good pizza ruined with a calorific batter.thumbdownthumbdownthumbdown [Hatley]
I wouldn't either! [Janey1966]
No, can you share with me what exactly it is..I'm always up for a good pizza just as long as there is no frying involved..I eliminated fried food from my diet over 2 years ago..Its just not healthy. Thanks Janie...J [sulsisels]
It tends to be a Scottish phenomenon as the further north you travel the more they batter stuff. Search Scotland and Batter on the same line and you will be amazed at what comes up lol.wink [Janey1966]
No I have never ever heard of a Battered Pizza before. In the picture it looks so big and that just looks like way too much food!! But I do like Pizza though, but that is a bit out of my leuage there. L.O.L.lol [jahernandezrivas]
