Is Your Pizza Shrinking In Size

Yesterday was Xmas eve and I ordered my favourite pizza and when I opened it, it's looks like it had shrink tremendously. But I was too hungry to think about anything and I just ate them. The advertisement said it was meant for 4-6 person but I think it's was just right for 2-3 person servings. Then I remembered about a report previously that someone actually complaint that after they measured their pizza, it was smaller by 2" than what was advertised. I should have do it yesterday! Would you measure your pizza to make sure what you got was what you ordered?

I used to work for Pizza Hut. I was on the phones and that was the most common complaint, custmers arguing with me claiming they got the wrong sized pizza. In my opinion I don't think that the Pizza itself is shrinking per say, but people's expetations as to what they think they should be getting. For example a pizza advertized to feed four to six people may be true if it is a family that ate smaller portions in one setting, (ex: two adults and two to three children) But, when you're by yourself, or with maybe one or two friends you may be inclined to eat more for one setting then say a larger family. However, the actual size of the Pizza remains the same. [kaylachan]
I see. Cos I really find the pizza that was delivered to my place smaller than what I had even in usual days. And not to mention the extra charges that I was paying for the Xmas package. Anyway, thank you for sharing. Merry Xmas [warvial]

My pizza has been the same size, but it's been getting thinner and thinner. I guess it's another way to cut costs instead of increasing prices. If I find that my pizza is smaller than what was advertised, I'd just stop buying pizza from that particular place. I might write a complaint if they deliberately did it. Which part of the world do you live in? [initialdylan92]
Oh, I like my pizza bread to be thicker. I do know about rolling the bread and using it as pizza dough. Still trying to find how I can make those thick pizza bread. Thank you for your sharing though. Cheers [warvial]

I have been witness to the family size pizzas being wasted in restaurants and I am glad that pizsas are now being reduced in size. Today's family consists at the most 4 and the earlier size could go round for 8. America is slowly becoming practical. [allknowing]
Oh I see! Haha, maybe they too paid much attention on citizen's welfare. Here in my country, we seldom see wastage because we get charged extras for wasting food as well which I think is good as it will prevent people from taking too much. And also, Merry Xmas to you! [warvial]

i think u have the sizable...pizza...just for fun...have a nice day... [bentennyson89]
Thank you for your response and have a nice day [warvial]

Oh My Dear!! It's a Christmas Occasion, biggest occasion and everyone order them for a pizza... may be they have lots of orders and that's why its going to be like this....... anyhow enjoy your pizza ;) Enjoy Christmas;) Enjoy Holidays:) Enjoy Earnings:) Enjoy MyLotting :) [Lovebirds90]
Yes, I can only be glad that I didn't decide on a huge party or else, everyone will be upset at the end for the lack of food supply. Enjoyed the pizza but if it can be BIGGER! haha. Thank you and Enjoy you Christmas too! Thank you for your response and Merry Xmas [warvial]

The Pizza looks huge at the commercials and I think they downgraded in size and thickness because of the recession, So the pizza will stay the same prize despite of the economic problems. [albertwhisker]
Yes, you are right. They are changing the ingredients proportion. Today just had a very BIG pizza. The entire piece taste like 80% tomato sauce + cheese, 15% pineapple and 5% ham bits. So although it made me feel full, the overall tasted like tomato + cheese on bread. [warvial]

L.O..L. Funny but not. I always order either a medium or large and sometimes the medium does look like a large which I am happy with that! But I know what your'e talking about I have seen it happen to co-workers but I have to say it has never happened to me. I always order only from a couple of Pizza places that I know is quality for the price and size. There is some Pizza places that I would never ever order from again in my life! And when I do place the order I know exactly what I am going to get size and pricehappyhappy [jahernandezrivas]
Woah, that's good for you. However, in my country, there are quite limited choices for Pizza. Pizza Hut, Oishi Pizza and Canadian Pizza are the only 3 pizza business in here which I had heard of and is well-recommended by my peers. Hopefully I could find more pizza stores which carries good pizzas and stated as advertised. Thank you for sharing with me and hopefully I can get the pizza size I want or it's time I will boycott that pizza store. Merry Xmas and Happy New Year [warvial]

I think it matters also the time the pizza was cooked and the time it takes to deliver the pizza. But I do have seen that the pizza in my favorite pizza shop has been reduced. This is to compensate for the rise in prices of commodities. So instead of increasing the price, they just adjusted the size.happy [jpso138]
Yes, that's a common approach but what I am upset is the advertisement that states that it can cater to 4-6 people but when it came, it was a ridiculous 2-3 people portion. Anyway, it's over and today I just had pizza at another place and I think it is really value for money and the size is given as shown. Thank you for sharing your response. Cheers [warvial]

for you size is shrinking for me amt of cheese is shrinking, we dont nedd to measure pizza size here, becoz i know it be will small only, sometimes one person need to have more than one. if i hv luck, 1 can be ate by 2 not more than 2. [sujathakkannan]
Oh I see. That's a good methodology! I should adopt that as well! Thank you for sharing. [warvial]

i think they're all starting to do that to save money. even the frozen pizzas seem to be shrinking. i have one pan i use all the time to cook them, and it doesn't line up to where it used to. [scarlet_woman]
Oh I see... Thank you for sharing. I shall try to avoid these brands if I decided to go for frozen pizza (if I can't find the recipe to make the pizza bread/crust) [warvial]

Thats a very good question but honestly speackign it never come to my mind but this is something I have been thinking for quite some time now. I believe they would ave reduce the size of the pan thats one of the reason. But check this out the prices are still going high every passing day [eddify]
This sounds funny but we used to go for the free pizza and all the friends have bets as to who will get a fuller platter and we used to take turns to full it up(one time only) but the owners were really intelligent they removed the platter with a bowl which was round in shape and a small one too.
