As I was preparing supper this evening, I saw out the kitchen window the pizza delivery person leaving from my neighbor's house. This got me to thinking about whether I had ever had pizza delivered to my house. So I asked my husband if we had pizza delivered and he said no he couldn't remember ever doing it either. When we eat pizza in, we always go pick it up.
So, do you have pizza delivered or pick it up from the restaurant? If delivery, why do you choose to have it delivered?

We have never had it delivered to our house. We live 25 miles out in the country. I have had it delivered to work for lunch, if we are real business and no one can get away then I will order a pizza. [sassy28]

Most of the time we pick the pizza up. I've never eaten the pizza on the way home, although I am always tempted to do so, because it smells so good. It is only 5 minutes to get home so I manage to wait. [caver1]
We have pizza delivered about once a month. We do not go and get it because it is cheaper to give a good tip than it is to drive there myself. Besides all that in the 30-45 minutes it takes for it to get to my house I can get alot done, but if I have to go and get it then I will have to wait for it to get ready (they never have it done when I go to pick it up), and I wont get anything done. I live about 10 minutes away from my favorite pizza place, and thats if I'm walking, If I went by car, it might take me a minute to get there, but that would be a waste of gas, I never have pizza delivered, plus I like the people that work there, I'm in there so much they know me by name and might even give me a part time job but now I'm getting off subject. If I lived further away I would most likely have it delivered because I like not having to leave the house to eat [irishfury187]
How nice to live so close to your favorite pizza place. I can drive to the closest one in about 5 minutes but I imagine it would take 45 minutes to an hour for me to walk there. Thanks for your response. [caver1]
I have mine delivered too. the only time I'd pick up pizza myself is if they didn't deliver. I like not having to go out sometimes. Like when I'm lazy and don't want to change anymore, having pizza delivered is the best option. Too bad delivery fees aren't free. [mimico]

Since living here I have not had pizza delivered, but I have in the past. Especially when it is later at night when you are in your jammies, but you are really craving pizza. Or when it is cold and you do not want to drag the kids out. [lilybug]

Pizza is best enjoyed when it is served hot in front of you i.e. in th eform of dine in but with ease and convinience we tend to ask for deliveries at home. I get my pizza delivered when I am in work and dont have to go out and dine in. [dropofrain]

Well, even I have never had a pizza delivered home to us. As it is pizza is not a very popular proper meal concept here in India as yet and the two main chains we have are Dominos and Pizza Hut, both of which are quite expensive to say the least. The vast majority of the middle class, specially with middle aged parents and such, do not yet consider the pizza a proper dinner on a regular basis. It maybe OK say on special occasions but that is that. a proper pizza meal for three (my family) cost us around $8 to $10 (at either of the two outlets) which is quite a sum for us. Nevertheless, we have had that a few times when we have gone shopping! However, a few of my friends have had home delivery and though they are quick to delivery, the general opinion was that the cheese tends to become a bit stiff while on the way…so I think we'll not go the home delivery way. In the U.S. pizza is very popular and many people do not consider the nutritional value when chosing meals. While some families may have pizza for dinner once a week, our family may have it as a treat once a month or less. [caver1]

i mostly have it delivered though sometimes it is better to pick it up cause it is cheaper to pick up than having it delivered. but when i can't go out i have no choice than to have it delivered which is the main purpose of delivery to spare us the trouble to go out. [hotsummer]
Yes, hotsummer, not having to go out is the purpose and treat of delivery. But for me it is no trouble to go out for a few minutes, to tell the truth my husband usually goes, so no trouble to me at all. [caver1]

We pretty much only order pizza from places that will deliver to us and we hardly ever go pick it up. For us, that's part of the beauty of ordering pizza - being able to sit on our butts at home and have someone bring the food to us. Of course, we love pizza and if for some reason, no places delivered to us, then we would go pick it up. However, it's great to just be lazy sometimes and have food delivered! [michmich2]

We always dine in on pizza parlors because it is far in our place that they don't have deliveries on that area. So if we were just near, i would have ordered to them on a daily basis because I'm an avid fan for Pizza. I don't mind if i get to eat Pizza once a month now since we do have to spend our money wisely to buy things more important for us. For me, it would still be a blessing to eat more than that for a month, but sacrificially, we have to discipline ourselves too because we wanted to buy a lot of things before this year ends. Even i really dont remember that i have ever odered a pizza at home, infact i know and remember i have always been to near by centers to eat them. even till the time yet here till my place there is no delivery for pizaas yet, so there is no question of odering it, i would be glad if i get to order a pizza because sometimes it really feels bore to go out and get a pizza from a long distance it is good to order it if you are too lazed out and feeling like to go out but want to have a pizza [Archie0]

I ordered pizza to home once. Its okay but you have to give the delivery guy a tip. I do pick it up from the restaurant too. I only live twenty min. away. But now I just buy those frozen pizzas to heat up. [chunijole]

we call the pizza place and order the pie 30 minutes before we get there and eat it there, that way you dont wait 25 minutes, if you want to go get the appitizer then go and sit and wait. pizza is always cold when we get it delivered so we order ahead and eat it there. we used to live in the boonies of outside palm beach before the ashphalt roads were put in and we couldnt get one delivered , we had to meet them i/2 way there at a strip mall parking lot. sometimes we had to get it delivered because the party was going on and we didnt want anyone driving to get it. ah the good ole days. I always get it delivered when I order pizza. When I was still living in my hometown we would have it delivered unless we ordered from Little Ceasars then we would pick it up cause they stopped delivering. [renemouche]

as the pizza delivery is a free service provided by the restaurant i prefer home delivery more since it saves lot of time besides the delivery person fails to deliver the pizza in the stipulated time we in for a party. [acematthews71]

Sure, for the convenience I like the idea of having it delivered. Sometimes it is best to just do the transaction over the phone. It is best though to be in the pizza place at times to see what you are getting before you actually get it. So it has its advantages at time to go and collect it. [catilda]

We've never had pizza delivered here since we live way out in the country. When I worked in town, I did have pizza delivered to my office a few times. Although, right now, I work at a pizza place. So if I wanted to have pizza, all I would have to do is order it and pick it up. Besides, we don't get our discount for delivery anymore, so it's cheaper to order it for carryout. [CRSunrise]

if it is dominos it is deliveried usually because I am home with the kids and it is easier to have them come then pack up the kids. The pick up is 90% of the time usually it is wrapped around coming home, picking up something else. Because of lent we eat cheese pizza on fridays for 8 weeks, I pick it up on the way home. [tea512]

Shoot, just the times we had pizza delivered in college is probably enough to cover both of us. Having it delivered is just a conveinence. Well caver1, I usually have the pizza that I am going to eat delivered to my house because the pizza store is a long way to my house and it only costs 2 dollars of my money to have it delivered to my house plus an extra 10 dollars usually to get the pizza. That makes about 12 dollars and that is actually half of what I earn everyday online. Another reason that I like having pizza delivered to my house is that I am a student so it is way easier for me to just get is delivered than going into my car, then getting out of my car, picking up the pizza, then going back in my car and then finally arriving home and then eating the pizza! We live in a smaller area which only had one major pizza place. They don't really offer delivery unless it's a big holiday to have pizza, or a few nights a week threw the summer they will offer it. To get them to deliver you gotta order half the menu to meet there min. delivery fee, so we usually go pick it up when we order it. [Jae2619]

When ever I order pizza it is usually because I have been too busy to cook dinner, or because I am stressed out and need a little break so it is a treat. So I have it delivered, having to get in the car to drive to pick it up, would defeat my purpose of taking some stress off of myself. If we are having pizza because we are having company then we might go pick it up to save a few buck. But mostly for me pizza represents giving myself a little break. [ladym33]
