I was in the mood and I had a craving for a pizza. So, about two weeks ago, I called to place an order over the phone for a pizza at Pizza Hut. And the guy told me that it would be a two hour delay before I would be able to get my pizza. From my understanding, even for carry outs it was the same too. So, I told him never mind. I then decided to call Papa John's. And they delivered a pizza to me in about 45 minutes. I was very hungry, and I did not want to wait until two hours to have a pizza delivered to me. I guess Pizza Hut was very busy that day, or they could have been short on the staff, or food itself. I am unsure of the reason. I think they could have been backed up with having so many people coming in and calling to place orders for pizza. Would you endure the wait of two hours or would you go somewhere else to eat?
[question posted by cream97]
responses and comments:
i would've picked it up myself or maybe wait 2 hrs. if it was 3 i couldve waited til 5 to get it. i guess i'd have to be in the situation to know for sure. [mgmagana]
Wait for Two hours to eat the pizza.shocked. The delivery guy would have wondered why he took up this delivery if he was two hours late in delivering this. The pizza delivery guys here have a scheme sometimes of delivery within half an hour or the pizza comes free. For two hours i would have made sure i get next 4 four orders free. [alokn99]
no way i would wait 2 hours pizza, not with all the others around, they just would lose my business for that night and i would tell them that so they know that they lost another customer. [sparky4641]
Definitly go somewhere else. We have about 3 or 4 pizza places within a half mile range, including one so close, I could walk there and usually do. We never have the pizza delivered. [marty3888]
I would go somewhere else, or snack while I was waiting for it depending on just how much I wanted a specific pizza. [Spook619]
The way I love pizza I would even wait three or four hours. I really enjoy a good bte into a succulent juciy slice of pizza. The wait for me is like delivering a child. Painful and anxious to get it over and done with, but getting it and sitting down to have it makes you forget about the problems. If you really want to calm me give me a nice cheese pizza with pineaple slices and oh1! Lovely lovely. Can somebody send me some please..... [catilda]
i would have goten it somewher else and when the guy finally showed up i'd give him the empty domino box. i dont like pizza hut anyway to much bread too thick and never cooked right always doughy [max1950]
I probably would have called somewhere else. Unless I was craving pizza from that place only and other pizza just wouldn't hit the spot as good. That is pretty bad having to wait two hours for a pizza. They should get so far behind. [ravinskye]
I suppose if it was a "call ahead" order such as ordering pizzas for a party later in the day, but otherwise NoWay! [rocketj1]
No I would not wait for two hours for a pizza. Sounds like they were encountering some kind of probelm. There are way too many pizza places around me to wait that long. I did have a long wait when we had an ice storm though but still it was only about 45 minutes. Everyone was out of power so the pizza places were hoppin' LOL I picked it up because they were really backed up on delivery but I only waited 45 minutes and that was understandable because there was am emergency going on. [fasttalker]
If the wait were just for delivery, I'd go and pick it up. But since it was for carry out too, nope I wouldn't wait. If I order a pizza, I'm already hungry or starting to get hungry, and a two hour wait would be way too long. I'd find another place and/or settle for something other than pizza! [dawnald]
I would not wait 2 hours for a pizza to be delivered. I would have called somewhere else to get a pizza too. They would have had to have been really short staffed to make a pizza deliver or pickup take that long. [lilybug]
There is no way on earth, that I would ever wait 2 hours for a pizza. Even if you are making the thing from scratch, it doesn't take that long. I am not sure what happened at Pizza Hut but it sounds like they dropped the ball on this one. Hopefully the pizza that you did get was good and worth not going to Pizza Hut. I never order from them, I try to avoid ordering from them because they can never seem to cook the crust the way that I like it. I hope that this doesn't happen again the next time that you try to order from them again. Good luck and Happy mylotting. [CRIVAS]
2 hours is too long for me... but it all depends on the person ordering it...if you're not that hungry and you prefer PIZZA Hut, then probably you can wait that long... [sweetseoul]
I use to work at a pizza place. The minumum for delivery time is 45 minutes or it was there. The busier they were the more time it took. It includes time to cook and time for the driver to get to your home. I think two hours though is a bit ridiculous. Personally i wouldn't want to even wait 45 minutes. Where we live though they no longer deliver. So we are stuck with pick up and i am fine with that. [jessi0887]
NO WAYS .If i have a mood to eat pizza i just cant wait for 30 mins if the delivery boy says he will be late i just cancel the order of home delivery and rush to the pizza hut and trust me there is nothing like a pizza of pizza hut.ITS AWSOME. [shiwangipeswani]
There's no way that I would ever wait 2 hours for pizza, or any food being delivered f or that matter. I would try a different pizza place, or order something else. 2 hours is just a little bit ridulous to wait for some pizza. [tiff_tay20]
Nope, I'd go to the pizza place myself and save on the additional delivery fees if it took that long for the pizza to arrive. Anyway, the only time I ask to have pizza delivered is when I really want to eat it. So if the company will make me wait, then I might as well dress up and go out for a warm slice of pizza. there's a good place a few minutes away from my home anyway. Also, most pizza joints serve their pizzas right away. In my country, if the pizza doesn't arrive within 30 minutes, it should be free. [mimico]
Two hours how awful you need it straight away when you fancy one.x [suzzy3]
Cream97, Know, I could not wait for two hours for a pizza, I would call another place like Domino's. Happy myLotting Snowqueen [snowqueen2008]
Hi cream97, I don't do that all as I have to cook my own meals and don't order anything out for sometimes but the last time I've done that is a while agao when I ordered chinese meal but it didn't take long for delivery. Hugs. Tamara [tamarafireheart]
Well its completely understandable that things happen and they may have had a long wait but there is nothing wrong with you going somewhere else...2 hours is a very long time to wait, especially if you have a craving! Im sure pizza hut was expecting to lose some customers that day due to the long wait. It happens to lots of businesses [a_s_h_l_e_y]
I don't think that I would have waited for 2 hours either if I were you. Especially if I was feeling really hungry. I think you did the thing most people would do by looking for an alternative place to get some pizza. [UK_Shree]
I would have called another place like you did I wouldn't wait 2 hours no way. I would have asked them why such a long wait though. I guess I am nosey that way haha. Maybe a lot of people called in sick that day. That is strange though. I have never had to wait 2 hours for a pizza 45 minutes at the latest. Have a nice day! [patriciaqualls]
That's ridiculous to wait two hours for pizza delivery. I would like to order from somewhere else. 45 minutes is okay for me and in fact in my experience, that's the average time for delivery. 45 minus is the nominal but normally, they will arrive about 1 hour from the time we called them. [masata]
I love Pizza Hut. That is where I get pizza when I want some. I will not wait 2 hours though. I understand they are the best place to go and they may get backed up. But I'd go buy something else insetead of waiting that long. [moondancer]
I live in New York City, so there's always a back up when it comes to getting food delivered. I would definitely not be willing to wait 2 hours for Pizza Hut to ring my bell. I'd take out my stack of menus and find either another pizza place or just another faster delivery service. [nycdeezel]
I wouldn't wait 2 hours for the pizza. Like you said "it was probability a busy night" or "short staff", which is almost always true in a way. I'll just go to some other pizza place. It's no big deal for me. [golddrizzle71]
If the pizza is more delicious than others and I just want to eat the Pizza Hut's pizza,I will wait.If the pizza of other store is also good for me,I cannot wait. For example,I can go to a place for 90 minutes to eat a kind of chicken by bus;the chicken is so delicious that I will endure the long way. [vzihan]
I will look for pizza somewhere else. 2 hours is too much for me to be waiting. The cravings just don't help either. It will just add up to the frustration of endlessly waiting for that pizza. Papa John's can make it at 45 minutes, why no Pizza Hut right? They have even have a slogan "Hate Late?". That's a shame. [modstar]
Wow that is crazy a two hour wait for dinner. I would not of ate or ordered I would have said forget it to. I most likly would have ordered from some where else. [emilie2300]
It would depend on the situation for me. If I'm not that hungry, maybe I can. Here in our place, I never experienced such duration, the longest I ever had waited was just about 45 minutes. Normally it would just take about 30 minutes to an hour here depending on the location and the traffic conditions. On good times, it would just take less than 20 minutes for a pizza to be delivered in our place. [boy_bato]
hi i guess if i really wanted pizza that bad and could not drive to pick it up myself i would wait the two hours but i don't think it should take them that long [deanna2]
Hello there, I never have and never would wait for 2 hours for a pizza!!..I have never even heard of that here. The longest I have waited is 45 minutes at the most. But then again, I live in a small city where there are pizza wars Im sure...Once a week, I get flyers from about 8 pizza places...With that much variety, theres no way Im going to wait for 2 hours! [sandymay48]
Two hours! It is too long for hungry people.I couldnt wait two hours no matter how delicious the food is.I would change to eat something else or go to some other places. [candy811123]
No I wouldn't wait two hours, that is WAY too long the maximum I'd wait is an hour. So I'd have to go somewhere else [Musicial]
That's a joke, two hours, it's so long. The time is enough me to choice other restrants to eat. No matter how delicious the food is, i will not wait for such long time to eat i think. i can't endure such longtime waiting. [tjsally]
I'm a total stuffed crust nut, but two hours' wait is not worth the pain. I'd go somewhere else to satisfy my cheese-bounded and pepperoni-crave somewhere else. [kaven08]
Wow, that's a really long wait. I would never want to wait that long for a pizza so I would go somewhere else to eat. Domino's has a really fast delivery here. Sometimes I like ordering subs from Jimmy John's, you can even order them online and they always deliver fast. [princessdian]
I would get very angry if they want me to wait two hours for a meal. I would like to buy something to feed myself at the nearest shop. I have no patience for waiting. By the way, pizza tasts good sometimes when I'm hungry but it is not my love. I would rather to cook some noodles to solve my hugry problem. :) Good luck! [wenwenwang]
Of course not! That's too long! Here in the Philippines Pizza Hut has a policy that they have to deliver your pizza in 30 minutes. If they are even a minute late, the pizza is free! I don't understand why there are outlets that make you wait that long just to deliver a pizza that you are supposed to be paying for. [scarletwitch12]
Same here pal! LOL [scarletwitch12]
Absolutely not! If the pizza is not there in 45 minutes, then that means that your pizza should be free because that company made a promise to you to have your pizza to you on time. [rogue13xmen13]
There's no way I would wait that long for a pizza! I guess I'm more into instant gratification :) Like you, I would have called someplace else. If for some reason I couldn't find a place that would be quicker, then I might wait if I was really feeling like pizza, but when would that really happen? I can't believe they had a two hour delay - that's so crazy! [michmich2]
Two hours sure is a long time to wait just for a pizza. I would definitely just switch to another store, waiting so long for food when I'm hungry doesn't work very well for me. Pizza Hut must really be busy that day though, I remember that they always have my pizza delivered within the hour whenever I ordered from them before. [reichiru]
i will not wait that long for pizza hut to deliver a pizza to me rather than waiting that long i will order pizza from another shop like you did... [sureshgandhi]
2 hours? That's very long of waiting. Here, Pizza restaurants vowed to deliver their goods for 30 minutes and if beyond that, the Pizza will be free. So you should have it free for the long wait. It's their fault and not yours.. [paoxav]
If I am hungry and dying for having something, I just cannot wait for two hours. Two hours is pretty long period of time, I just cannot think or say imagine that I may feel hungry after two hours, therefore, I should book my order two hours in advance. If I come to know that I'll have to wait for two hours to have my pizza, I'll go for something else to satiate my hunger. [dpk262006]
I won't have the patient to wait for 2 hours, that's too over. If have to wait for 2 hours fora food, I will rather to cook a maggie mee. [meiyeec511]
I would not wait two hours to order my pizza.I order my pizza from Dominos. They deliver my pizza hot and fresh in thirty minutes.Even if it becomes forty five minutes i will call them and enquire about it.I have other pizza shops like smokin joes and garcias pizzas to order but i don't like to try them.happyhappy [vicky30]
Hi cream dear! I don't think i can wait for two hours when I am really hungry. I think I will look for somewhere else to feed my hungry stomach. haha..Or maybe, I will just cook something easy and quick to prepare meal. I wouldn't endure a two hour waiting period for the delivery to arrive. Take care and have a great day! lovelots..faith [faith210]
Hi cream97, 2 hours is insane! Over here, I think it is 1 hour for deliveries and I find it too long already. If I want to eat, I want to eat it NOW lol. rasp I wouldn't endure 2 hours unless I called 2 hours before my mealtime anyway. blink [lordwarwizard]
I can get pizza by just walking over the street and order one. I have never tried if they deliver it at my home. But I prefer home made pizza and it is very easy to make it if you have some ingredients at home.. drool lol Tastes great too and you know what is in it..rolleyes [buenavida]
of course i wont wait that long for just a pizza to be delivered..instead i'll just pick it up by myself.. [mystic888soul]
No I would not wait two hours for a pizza. I can understand and hour especialy if it is a busy night. Where I live when I call to order a pizza after 6:30 they always(no matter were I'm ordering it from)say it will be 45min-1hour. So Im prepared for that when I call. But two hours, no, I would have did what you did and called somewhere else. [renemouche]
welll i would never wait for a pizza to be delivered in tow hours!instead i would make pizza at home no matter even bread pizza!!but i am not a fool to wait for so long!!whats the use!!all the craving just vanishes waiting for so long!!so it iwll be stupidity to wait for a pizza for 2 hrs!!you were right to call up some other pizza outlet!! [punk_gal]
I and my husband loves pizza so much. We love Dominos Pizza because their pizza tastes so good. Whenever we have this craving we call them for delivery. And most of the time they inform us that we need to wait for 30 minutes. So I was really surprised to know that there is a case like yours being told to wait for 2 hours! That sounds ridiculous! I think you should have asked the reason why you need to wait that long in order to know why. Well I understand that there are days when there are lots of order or might have some problems in the store like short in staff or no pizza stock available but still if they want income then they should inform customers the reason behind. Creating an uninformed customer will ruin the reputation of a store and tendency is they will just go and look for others that could provide better service. In our case since I and my husband are most of the time hungry when we order pizza, we only allow 30 minutes or else he will call the store again and follow up on the delivery. My husband is very particular in time and he wants an honest business. He will understand the situation of being late if it has an acceptable reason but if not then sorry. I and my husband will just go to other stores worth the money we are spending. Anyway I love Pizza Hut pizzas too and maybe if that is the case then I will go to other stores. [Yori88]
I think i would have done the same as you did. Just called somewhere else. Or made it myself. You could have made it yourself from scratch in less than 2 hours. My problem is i have basement apt. so the back door is my only door. Nobody wants to go to the back door. Espesally after dark. So if they go to the front door and nobody is home it doesnt get delivered. Am i expected to wait outside? Thats crazy. [jdyrj777]
i will just wait in 30 minute, and if it's come after two hours i will not pay the pizza. [sanji471]
hey it depends on the situation.. from the my point of view i may wait for 2 hours for a pizza... i may not....... [wjlfernando]
I would wait two hours only if there was no other choice, or if it was the best pizza in the world. By the way, we ordered Papa John's pizza a few days ago, and it can't hold a candle to some of the other pizza places. [Heifer1]
I think it would depend on how bad I wanted to eat the pizza from that specific place. I have waited a long time for pizza deliveries because I wanted to eat from that place and plus I am one that I don't like to change my routine on where I order from and such. But, I would definitely eat somewhere else if it was going to take so long, and because I don't like change, I would probably pick another place I usually frequent, even if I want pizza. :) Sometimes places do get way busy, but who knows. Maybe it just wasn't meant for you to eat from Pizza Hut that day. Happy MyLotting! [Phenomenal1]
I was in a funny situation, too. I've once called and ordered a (or two) pizza(s) from Pizza Hut. They told me go to pick it up in about 30 mins. I went there, soon, but it said that they didn't receive my order, and want me to wait another 30 mins there. So it took me 1 hour to get my pizza, and when I get it, I wasn't really hungry anymore. I would go somewhere else to eat, if he told me that I have to wait 2 hours. [Jyc921]
I'm craving for pizza and the same time i am ver hungry? What i will do is go change clothes and i will go order personally at the pizza store but before that i'll just drink water first to lessen my hungered tummy and so that my mouth won't get dry. [gracypure]
They must have been real busy for it to have taken that long. If it was from a place that i really like the pizza from i would have waited, or if i had all the ingredients at home i would have made it my self and not called any where to order one. I do not like papa Johns pizza so i would not have called them. [dlr297]
There is no way that I would wait for 2 hours. That is crazy! I am glad you found somewhere that could be a little quicker. [Thoroughrob]
I wouldn't wait for 2 hours. Usually when I order pizza it's because there is no time to make dinner. I could go to the grocery store and buy the fixing for a pizza and make my own in that time! Or just buy a ready made one at the deli. Sometimes restaurants run out of stuff. Pizza Hut was a real problem for me once. They didn't have salad dressing or ice cream. Huh? Can't someone run to the store? I mean, honestly! I emailed head office and they sent me a coupon for a whole meal - more than my family could eat. This past Saturday my husband went to the drive-thru at McDonald's. We have McDonald's every Saturday because we go to church from 5 until 6. Well their grill wasn't working so they didn't have any burgers to sell. WTH!? The guy at the window said about 1 in 5 cars stopped to place an order, the rest just drove right through. They probably went across the street to A&W, or ventured over to the McD's at Walmart. I was upset when I went to Subway and they didn't have any whole wheat buns. What is up with that? They pride themselves on healthy food. I was going to write HO, and probably should have. I will if it happens again. I just don't think there is any excuse for a company from such large chains to be out of anything.... especially when we have, uh, 3 or 4 Subways in our town of 27,000 people. [patgalca]
I don't think I would wait two hours to eat, I think I would go somewhere else. Even when we're going to a restaurant and the line for waiting is 30 mins or more, we'll go someplace else to eat, I'm not waiting that long especially if I'm really hungry at the time. [walijo2008]
Well first of off i would never wait 2 hours for a pizza id give the manager or owner a piece of my mind about the reidiculous wait chances are they will give you so much percentage off on your next over of a free pizza and second of off id go somewhere else here we have a little cesears where they have hot n readys just go in and say your amount and its ready for ya 2 hours no they'd lose my business [sassymama1974]
heck no what ever happened to 30 minutes or its free?2 hours for a pizza good grief you could go to the grocery store and bake one in less time not to mention cost. [frygirl]
if it's on the weekend, maybe.those places get slammed on weekends. on a wednesday or so,forget it. we have a place local that's notorious for "whatever" time delivery. even if you go in,they take their time filling your order when the place is empty.i'm surprised they're still in business. [scarlet_woman]
no, i would not. don't like waiting on things to start but that's ridiculous.i don't blame u i would have called somewhere else to. [ANTIQUELADY]
No, I will not wait for a 2 hour pizza delivery no matter what is the reason. I will order pizza somewhere else like you did. Are they located in a different state to say that to you? [sophie_dfuss]
when i am hungry,i cant wait long.i rummage the kitchen for some eatables.if nothhing edible is there,i take a spoonful sugar.theres no way,i can wait for 2 hours. [riyasam]
Um, no! I would have eaten something else by then. Wow, too long to wait. Yes, obviously pizza hut was very busy and very short-handed that night. I have never had to wait that long. Glad you had another option!!! [quinnkl]
No Never. I would never wait for so much time. I would rather not have a pizza. There are so many joints which send out pizzas. So we do not have to endure the wait. Dominoes, Papa John's, Smoking Joe's are all there to serve. One of them would deliver on time. So why wait. So I would never wait for such a long time. [anura30]
I doubt I would wait that long for a pizza. There's other pizza plaes in town so I would just say forget it and go elsewhere. I'm not going to wait two hours for a pizza when I can go elsewhere and get it right then. [DarthJustice]
I would have done exactly what you did. I would have told him never mind & ordered my pizza elsewhere. I am sure they had very good reasons for being behind in delievering their pizza's, but wehen your hungry you don't want to wait two hours for your food no matter how good their reasons are. [RobsWife10706]
It depends on how hungry I am and how much I love that particular place's pizza. For me, pizza hut pizza is not worth waiting for. I would have done what you did and ordered elsewhere. Papa Johns and Dominos are much better choices anyway. I used to love pizza hut, but they don't make their food the same. Their pizzas now have hardly any sauce and the cheese on their food is usually burned. Has anyone else noticed that the Tuscan Lasagne looks nothing like the commercial? And it's one lasagna noodle with sauce and ricotta and one more noodle on top. That's it! It tastes ok if you don't mind burned cheese on top. But I would think the Italians would be insulted if they were truly served a lasagne like that as the comercial says. And it's not new for pizza hut to make you wait 2 hours. I have waited before when the pizza was still delicious, but it's not worth it anymore. [Sky347]
No way friend.A pizza is a fast food! And I really cannot wait more than even half an hour to get my teeth into fast foods.Leave aside waiting for 2 hours!!When I am hungry I just got to eat fast. And anyways at our place when we feel like having a pizza we order it and the delivery boy gets it to us within half an hour.So no hunger pangs on that count. [nikhil_sun]
I would probably eat something while I am waiting. [falconx]
I don't think so. I don't have that much patience when it comes to food especially if I'm hungry. [angiemabute]
No, there is no way I would wait two hours, if I wanted to eat soon. In a case like that I would open my cupboards and refrigerator to find something else to eat, and order the pizza the next day if I still had a craving. Now, if I was not in a hurry to eat it, I would wait the two hours while I busied myself doing something around the house. Pizza to me is a take it or leave it kind of thing, so I wouldn't be salivating as I waited for it. But seriously, if I was not famished and something else to do, I would wait the two hours. [sudalunts]
hi cream I reckon if i wanted the pizza real bad i would wait. I'd probably pick at something and spoil my appetite but i would still have it once it arrived. Maybe keep my mind occupied to pass the time quickly, especially if it was a chicken mushroom and pineapple one! yummy. Alice :) [Aliceinwebland]
No. I would never wait two hours for pizza. Although I enjoy pizza, it's not an item that is worth it. [amylady2009]
A two hour wait for a pizza is too long. I would have done just like you. I would have gotten my pizza somewhere else. I like pizza but not enough to wait two hours. [royal52gens]
No I could not wait two hours to get a pizza delivered, I would have had to go somewhere else I reckon. I would have gone past the stage of hunger waiting that long and would not have ended up eating it when it came! [gemini_rose]
We rarely order take out pizza b/c it's just outrageously priced. Instead I'll buy a couple of Frenshetta's and make them up the way we like them. I like them better too. We did order pizza from Pizza Hut a couple weeks ago and the woman told me it would be 15 minutes...it was more like 10 if that. It was good but really not worth the cost. In answer to your question, if it wasn't there within no more than 45 minutes I would have called back and canceled it. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~ [twoey68]
Hi there cream97!I know how irritating it could be to be waiting for food to be delivered that long. Sometimes, what I do is to follow-up my order from time to time just to check if my food would be delivered soon. Pizza Hut (in the Philippines) has this policy wherein if they do not deliver within the time specified, you get the pizza for free. I think that is the reason why they always deliver on time. At least here in our city that is. Two hours of waiting is too much. I would have gone somewhere else to eat and cancel my order. [dolce_vita78]
